Do books on screenwriting have anything useful to say to serious screenwriters? There are heaps of how-to guides promising an agent and a deal to anyone with a copy of Final Draft. William Goldman said that, in regards to Hollywood, “No one knows anything”. Is that true? No. What he should have said is that most people don’t know enough – and agents don’t know anything.
As a professional script reader and screenwriter, I’ll be reading screenwriting books and boiling down their best points (if they have any) over several posts. Gaining a little more knowledge is always a good thing and my hope is that by cutting through the chaff, you can become better screenwriters without having to spend the money and time that I’m about to. I hope you find it helpful !

I love the drawing on your blog page. You are ambitious to read a book a week, but I am thinking you will gain insight and tricks to write even better, or at least to write in accordance with what is desired in the film world. Good luck!
